Weekend Recap

Whew….what a crazy (and long) weekend.  JW had today off and since summer school is done for a bit, we finally had a few moments to relax at home and catch up on everything we didn’t do over the weekend.

But, let’s talk about what we did do over the weekend.
It went a little like this:

Friday
Cottage.  Lake.  Yummy dinner.  Fireworks.  Sleeping tight.

Saturday
Cottage.  Playing in the lake.  Water trampoline.  Water slide.  Whit-bug swimming.  JalapeƱo poppers.  Late dinner (delicious, of course). Kick the can ice cream. Fireworks.

Sunday
Early morning fishing with JW.  Septic tank stops working (uh-oh).  Yummy breakfast.  Playing in the lake.  More kiddos on the water trampoline and waterslide.  Old friends stop by for a visit.  Boat ride.  Tubing.  Family stops by for the afternoon.  Relax on the pontoon boat.  Go for an evening swim (slash bath considering aforementioned septic tank).  JW, nephew, brother, and cousin go fishing.  Head into town.

Monday
Lazy morning.  Grocery shopping.  25 people in line for Starbucks – hello fudgees (what we fondly call tourists).  Family time on Mullet Lake.  4th of July BBQ and parade.  Donald Duck.  Hang out with more friends.  Head to fireworks.  Ooooh…aaaaah.

Our weekend was pretty fantastic.  One of these days I’ll remember to take more pictures!

Weekend.

It was a busy, but wonderful weekend.  Clearly, our whole family is tired out!  This is what I found when we got home from the lake today.  Recap to come tomorrow when I have a better handle on grad school work, summer school plans are a little more prepared, and I'm a little less sleepy.  Hope you all had a good weekend!! :)

Weekend Recap: Fun in the Sun!

Once again, we had an amazing weekend.
Here's what we did:
We hung out in town on Friday night, spending some time with our P-town crew.  We hit up City Park Grill and jammed to the live band.  Either Liza liked it or was really confused because she was MOVING!

As for the rest of the weekend, most of it we spent here...

Yes, this is our beloved family cottage.  We didn't get up there till Saturday afternoon, but we JW, my pops, and I definitely took a quick dip in the lake.  It was a little chilly, but not awful!

Because my lovely husband LOVES to have a good bonfire, we got up early Sunday morning, had a fire, and enjoyed coffee/tea and magazines with a view of the lake.

Then we headed back into town (a short 25 minute drive) on Sunday afternoon to get some work done on the house!  More to come on that tomorrow.  Let's just say we have about 1/3 more storage and it looks so perfect!  And because JW did most of the work and I helped, we had NO costs for labor.

Although, there is one downside.  Whit's treats moved to this area.  This is what she did for about 20 minutes on Sunday afternoon when I was organizing and rearranging...
She likes treats?

So that was our weekend, but we'd love to hear about what you did :)

Hello Summer!

Two words: Awesome weekend.

Here's how it started:
[Friday]
Gorgeous day.  Bbq at our house.  Kind of a last minute plan.  Whole family comes over.  Nephews play on Uncle Jon's boat. Eat summer-time dinner.  Friends join later.  Puppy party in the backyard.  Play frisbee.  Throw tennis balls.  Run.  Have fun.  Bonfire.

[Saturday]
Gorgeous day.  Go to cottage.  OPENING WEEKEND.  Do a little cleaning.  Play with nephews.  Whit goes swimming.  Loves it.  Decide to go fishing.  Head into town.  Pick up boat.  Take Mason out fishing on Pickerel Lake.  Mase turns his hat backwards because "that's what Uncle Jon does".  Motor stops working.  Jon fixes!  Catch two pike.  Too small to keep but in the words of Mase "that was awesome".  Pizza at my parents with the nephews.  Movie and early bedtime.

[Sunday]
Gorgeous day.  Get up early.  Plant garden.  Relax in new patio furniture.  Start moving cabinets for mudroom and hutch inside.  Relax while a warm breeze blows.  Love life.  Watch fog literally blow in.  Realize that happens when you live off of Lake Michigan.  Feel temperature drop 15 degrees.  Decide we'll work inside the rest of the day.
