We have loved every minute of being 'up north' permanently -- especially when it's summertime and the cottage is a quick drive away! Perhaps our favorite part though, is Bill's Farm Market. Think farm market every day and 5 minutes away from our house. I pick meals where I purposely have to go there to buy one thing, and walk out with a whole bag full of locally-grown goodies. Last week it was peaches! I made 2 big dishes of oatmeal cookie peach cobbler. Talk about amazing! And, now that our house is coming along and the honey-do list is getting shorter, we've had more time to relax and enjoy eating (one of our favorite things to do). So, I've attached a few pictures of Bill's fresh peaches and the new look going on in our house!Whit LOVES being in the pictures of our house! The best part about these is the 'rug' we made out of a carpet remnant we got for free from a family friend (holy tongue twister)...but it totally makes the room and Whit LOVES having a comfy spot to lay!
Welcome to our life...a small Northern Michigan town, a house for sale {with a new one in the works}, a kitchen that always smells good and our fun, crazy times as a family.

Cottage Summers
Last Friday night we had a fun little gathering at the cottage: great friends, nice boat ride and swim, topped off with great food, and dancing to Jelly Roll Blues Band in Alan-son (as Megan would say). Although I somehow missed taking pictures of the people there I did get some of the spread I put out :)We also got to spend some time with the boys and my parents on Saturday night. They're so sweet and continue to amaze us with how smart they are!

I'm addicted to YHL
If you have never checked out the blog, Young House Love, you should definitely do it soon! We've just gotten our new furniture (pics coming as soon as we clear the clutter) and I've already informed Jon of all the lovely 'projects' we have for the weekend. Good thing he's quite the woodworker :)

What a weekend...
We had a busy, but wonderful weekend. It seems like those are pretty frequent this summer, but we can't complain. We headed to Frankfort on Friday. It may be one of my favorite cities in Michigan (other than Petoskey, of course). Our resort was right on the beach and even though we weren't there long, we got to play 'fudgies'. Nothing like getting ice cream with the nephews and 'nieces', and then watching the sunset. Fun times.
The next morning we headed to Holland for Mary & Jeff's wedding. All these Alma gatherings this summer have been great!

1st Annual Burt Bash
As I was going through my camera, I found some pictures that were taken at the First Annual Burt Bash! Even though the weather wasn't the greatest, we had a pretty intense lake baseball game, played a ton of catch phrase and the guys got to do quite a bit of fishing. Can't wait to do it all again next year!
The boys -- enjoying their bad shots!
A couple 'after' pictures!
I've posted a few pics so you can see the comparison to the 'before' house pictures. I would take a few more photos, but we went a little crazy at a 'going-out-of-business' sale at a furniture store and therefore have a new couch, loveseat, dining room table and tv stand coming on Friday. So, I'll wait till then to take more!
For the fireplace, we tore out the old tile and put in the new slate tiles! In the breakfast nook, we put in new tile floors and Grandma Ann graciously donated her table! We also put in a new stove/microwave combo and Jon had the idea of a shelf for all of my cookbooks! Then, in our first extra bedroom we added wood floors (throughout most of the house) and painted. The last photo is of our guest bath with new tile, paint, and handles on the vanity!
